Monrovia, Calif.– Pacific Microinstruments Inc. announced April 16 a component-based solution for the transmission and graphical display of remote monitoring information on Java-enabled PDAs and cell phones. The information is processed and broadcast by a Java-based web server module for display on remote mobile devices. Extra*Digit Mobile SPC Suite enables display of remote monitoring information in the form of graphs, control charts, histograms, and numerical data on cell phones and PDAs that run a Java 2, Micro Edition (J2ME) virtual machine.

Typical applications of the package include industrial process monitoring, statistical process control (SPC) parameter broadcast, and the review of other critical business metrics. Supervisory personnel can now make decisions based on sophisticated business metrics anytime and anywhere. The primary benefits of the solution are improved remote enterprise monitoring capabilities, reduced costs, and increased convenience for key personnel. Representative Java-capable wireless devices include the Blackberry 5810, the Motorola i90c, the Nokia 7650, and the Handspring Treo 180.

Extra*Digit Mobile SPC Suite is immediately available to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and original software vendors (OSVs) for product integration. The components are also available to enterprise users directly from Pacific Microinstruments and through regional system integrators.
