Interkama 2001—International Trade Fair for Solutions for Automation in Production and Business Processes—is gathering momentum for its Sept. 24-28 run here. Streamlined to a five-day schedule in two-year cycles, Interkama’s process automation backbone will be joined by expanded exhibit sectors for manufacturing automation and integrated solutions—e-business, ERP, MRP, MES—and information technology (IT) for industrial applications.
A forum-type “Innovation Marketplace” program will replace the traditional conference format, and will spotlight automation-related themes, such as intelligent field devices, industrial communications, e-business, and strategies/methods (asset management, innovative control systems, process simulation, etc.). A special presentation, “Careers in Engineering,” will likely appeal to young professionals.
Control Engineering will exhibit in Hall 14. Control Engineering Online will tape a technology webcast sponsored by the Fieldbus Foundation (FF, Austin, Tex.) to be presented in FF’s booth on Sept. 28 and simultaneously posted on the Internet. The webcast, “Foundation fieldbus: An Open Architecture for Information Integration,” will include presentations on how to apply this technology, a demo of the integrated H1+HSE (high-speed Ethernet) fieldbus architecture, and answers to e-mailed questions. Pre-registration is required at www.fielbus.org or www.globalelove.com/webcast .
