蝙蝠ch controller’s fieldbus interface increases flexibility

Milpitas, Calif.–A&D Weighingrecently introduced its AD-4402, a high-speed controller that can be used as a standalone batching unit or as part of a large multi-function system.

The firm states its new controller’s networking, communications and software programming, combined with its large database storage capacity, provides added flexibility in many applications, such as batching, automatic mixing, filling and checkweighing. To improve accuracy in high-speed, filling-materials applications, AD-4402 uses a forecast control mode that automatically adjusts hopper discharge with a 1-millisecond response.

A standard RS-485 interface allows up to 32 AD-4402 controllers to be networked to one programmable logic controller (PLC), personal computer or other equipment supporting Modbus protocol. This networking approach uses simple wiring to lower implementation costs. Data entry, updating, recalling parameters and control commands are handled directly from the PLC or PC.

Connectivity via the growing number of fieldbus devices in batching systems is available using CC-Link, DeviceNet or Profibus interfaces options. Other interface options include Binary Coded Decimal, relay, analog output, RS-422/RS-485, RS-232C and Parallel I/O.

AD-4402’s software programming stores up to 100 raw material and 100 recipe codes, while each recipe code contains up to 10 materials. It also provides programming for sequencing, target weights, as well as fast, slow and dribble feed. The 11 outputs and 11 inputs can be set up using one of the 50 preprogrammed function codes for functions, such as filling, over, under, discharge bin, mixing, emergency stop and error signals.

The controller has an internal resolution of 1 million counts, maximum display resolution of 16,000 counts and A/D conversion rate of 100 times per second. It also includes digital span with gravity acceleration.
