More powerful PC: DIN rail mounted

To increase processing power in some of the smallest DIN rail mounted Embedded PCs available, Beckhoff Automation introduced its CX9010. In its basic configuration, the device includes CPU, internal flash memory, main memory (RAM), NOVRAM as non-volatile memory and one switched Ethernet port with two external RJ-45 interfaces. Additional Compact-Flash, DVI/USB or serial RS-232 / RS-422 / RS-485 interfaces are available.

To increase processing power in some of the smallest DIN rail mounted Embedded PCs available,

Beckhoff Automation

introduced its CX9010. In its basic configuration, the device includes CPU, internal flash memory, main memory (RAM), NOVRAM as non-volatile memory and one switched Ethernet port with two external RJ-45 interfaces. Additional Compact-Flash, DVI/USB or serial RS-232 / RS-422 / RS-485 interfaces are available.

With its previous introduction of the CX9000 Embedded PC series, the company maintains that it repackaged PC-based control technology into its most compact form—a Bus Coupler-sized housing. The new CX9010 differs from that unit with a higher performance processor and larger memory configuration. The computer features an energy efficient Intel IXP420 processor with XScale technology and 533 MHz clock frequency. As a solid state device, the CX9010 features internal flash memory as the boot and memory medium and a heat sink for cooling, Beckhoff says.

In combination with Beckhoff Bus Terminal I/O or EtherCAT I/O Terminals, the CX9010 Embedded PC becomes a compact PC controller for PLC and Motion Control applications. The CPU module provides a direct connection to Beckhoff I/O systems. The CX9010 is equipped with high-performance software in the form of

Microsoft’s Windows CE operating system

and TwinCAT automation software.
