Integration: B&B Electronics acquires wireless developer AES

By控制工程Staff November 2, 2006

B&B Electronics acquired Advanced Embedded Systems (AES), a designer and developer of wireless solutions for the industrial market. AES, based in Phoenix, AZ, will become part of B&B Electronics’ engineering and technical group in Ottawa, IL. The acquisition provides B&B Electronics with in-house wireless design expertise, enhancing the company’s research and development capabilities, the companies said. Terms were not disclosed.

B&B Electronics president, Don Wiencek, says the move brings a broader range of wireless solutions, along with customer, and market knowledge. As prices for wireless technologies fall, market applications are increasing for monitoring and supervisory control applications.

AES, formed in 2000, offers the wireless I/O product line, RT12 series, which wirelessly enables many existing systems, using peer-to-peer mode or Modbus mode. RT12-series I/O components are said to be “plug-and-play,” compatible with popular SCADA/DCS Modbus software packages, PLCs, and process controllers. The companies made the announcement Sept 14.
