World Batch Forum 2004: OSIsoft announces batch generator enhancements, reporting solution

PI Batch Generator 2.0 gathers context-specific data from across multiple batch systems to monitor and analyze batch processes in real-time. These interfaces capture recipe and procedural information as well as start-and-stop times to facilitate batch-to-batch, unit-to-unit, and plant-to-plant comparisons.

This version frames repeatable time segments such as employee shifts, power turbine generator startups, and product grade changes, along with collecting data from batch execution systems through a self-configuring interface. Any event can signify the start and end, and associated key performance indicators are stored in the context of the batch. PI Batch Generator is designed to store, analyze, and manage complicated batch processes and is commonly used when there is no native interface to generate and store batch data in the PI System within RtBaseline.

The real-time performance management software firm also announced the availability of RtReports, which produces on-demand reports that include real-time and historical data. Designed to meet increasing compliance and regulatory obligations, the package gives batch process manufacturers an easy-to-maintain way to access process information anytime, anywhere. RtReports delivers a comprehensive package for managing multiple compliance and reporting needs, from FDA regulation 21 CFR Part 11 or compliant batch end reports to specialized reporting requirements of an individual organization. The product has been validated in operational use by a variety of pharmaceutical companies, including Baxter Healthcare Corp., Mead Johnson, and Roche Ireland Ltd.

With RtReports, all data are maintained in their original fidelity in the PI System to ensure audit-ready reporting. It simplifies the batch-auditing process by using standardized manufacturing documentation. Specifically, the package lets batch process manufacturers:

• Generate tamper-proof reports with an audit trail of all metadata and user security changes;

• Automate raw data auditing and provide a permanent manufacturing record;

• Integrate all PI System applications and other data sources;

• Reduce system validation costs with simplified reporting; and

• Speed time-to-market with electronic signatures for faster release of batches.
