Nuremberg, Germany– In contrast to other technology shows suffering recent declines in number of exhibitors, and especially visitors, SPS/IPC/Drives 2002 upheld its reputation as ”the must event” for the automation industry in Europe.
SPS/IPC/Drives, known as Electric Automation-Systems and Components Exhibition & Conference, showed gains in virtually every statistic over last year’s event, during its three-day run that concluded on November 28, 2002. Results are more remarkable, given the far from glowing economic times in Germany.
Five exhibition halls of Nuremberg’s Exhibition Center were full to accommodate 779 exhibitors, up from 715 last year. Ten U.S. companies participated in the show. Exhibition space amounted to 42,400 sq m (456,400 sq ft), which is a 6% increase over 2001. Products and solutions shown by the technology suppliers drew 22,900 visitors, compared to 21,114 in 2001. Attendees at the show’s adjunct conference, however, were down from a year ago, 497 versus 656.
”The quality of the conference sessions and discussions on the show floor was as high as ever, and the atmosphere at the automation industry’s autumn event could not have been better,” says show organizer Mesago Messemanagement GmbH (Stuttgart, Germany).
The next edition of SPS/IPC/Drives and IT & Automation will take place at the same venue during November 25-27, 2003. Show dates have already been announced for 2004 and 2005 at this approximate annual date at the Nuremberg Exhibition Center.
