Alternating Current (AC) systems are analyzed using “phasor algebra” ala Steinmetz. Most engineering students initially learn this technique as it applies to single-phase systems. These training exercises often included multiple voltage sources with arbitrary phase angles (voltage phasors) as practice in phasor manipulations. Such exercises were generally more focused toward training in phasor manipulations than modeling real electrical systems.
