New dc fuses protect ac/dc applications

ByControl Engineering Staff February 2, 2006
Varied holders and mounting options are available for the Cooper Bussmann Limitron DCM fuse.

A series of Cooper Bussmann midget fuses is designed to meet a full range of ac or dc applications, including dc control circuits. Limitron DCM fuse is UL listed up to 600 V ac/dc and has in-terrupt ratings of 100,000 A for ac applications and 50,000 A for dc.

The fuse can be used to comply with NEC 690.9(D), which requires that photovoltaic source circuits that use overcurrent devices listed for dc circuits and have the appropriate voltage and interrupting ratings. It also has advantages for electric and hybrid-electric vehicles, wind power, fuel cells, dc control, and mass transit auxiliary circuits.
