National Instruments delivers component for Microsoft’s Visual Studio .NET

Austin, Tex.–To continue its tradition of using commercial technologies to deliver high-performance measurement and automation systems,National Instruments(NI) began offering Feb. 13 a free-of-charge upgrade to Measurement Studio, a suite of development tools for scientists and engineers that complements Microsoft’s Visual Studio .NET solution.

Measurement Studio allows developers using Visual Studio .NET to more easily build mission-critical, multi-function measurement and control systems that incorporate motion, vision, instrument control and data acquisition. This new release also means that Measurement Studio is now seamlessly integrated into Microsoft Visual Studio .NET, which will developers to build their systems in a more familiar environment.

‘By creating measurement software and hardware that work seamlessly with Microsoft technologies, National Instruments empowers engineers and scientists to build powerful, networked measurement systems using interfaces with which they are already familiar,’ says David Lazar, Microsoft’s group product manager for its Developer and Platform Evangelism Division. ‘With Measurement Studio, developers using Microsoft Visual Studio .NET can quickly create measurement systems in the programming language of their choice.’

Microsoft Visual Studio .NET simplifies the creation of broad-reaching Windows and web applications to help users quickly build distributed applications using standard Internet protocols. Measurement Studio expands these capabilities by integrating measurement tools–including data acquisition, analysis and visualization–让工程师和科学家easily create robust measurement systems with Microsoft Visual Basic .NET, Visual C++ .NET, and Visual C# .NET.

‘Because Microsoft Visual Studio .NET is built around XML, it makes creating XML web services easier,’ says Shelley Erickson, NI’s Measurement Studio product manager. ‘With this and the superior networking data architecture of Measurement Studio, engineers can take their applications to the web faster, making it easier to work remotely and share data with colleagues around the world.’
