Motorola SPS becomes Freescale Semiconductor

Implementing the previously announced separation from the parent company, Motorola's Semiconductor Products Sector (SPS) has been reorganized to do business as Freescale Semiconductor Inc., as of April 4, 2004.

Implementing the previously announced separation from the parent company,Motorola‘s Semiconductor Products Sector (SPS) has been reorganized to do business asFreescale Semiconductor Inc., as of April 4, 2004. The newly named unit becomes a subsidiary of Motorola Inc. A registration statement for an initial public offering of Freescale Semiconductor common stock has been filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, according to Ray Burgess, corporate VP and director strategy, marketing and communications at Freescale. Metrowerks Corp .—a provider of software development tools for Motorola semiconductor products—will be a subsidiary of Freescale Semiconductor and will continue to operate under its current name, Burgess adds.
