Level switch: Two-wire, loop-power device for tank monitoring, interface control
Can often replace mechanical flow and paddle switches without wiring changes.
Rugged NuTec LS2000 level switch from Fluid Components International (FCI) provides reliable level monitoring and interface control in process applications.
The LS2000 level switch is designed for two-wire, 4 to 20 mA loop power that reportedly allows the device to serve as a drop-in replacement for other two-wire mechanical float and paddle switches without any wiring modifications. This simplifies installation and reduces costs during plant retrofit projects. It is also available for 115/230 Vac or 24 Vdc input power and a 6A relay output.
The LS2000 level switch features a thermal mass flow sensor with no moving parts constructed with either 304/305 stainless steel or with all welded 316L stainless steel wetted surfaces. The device can measure level within +0.25 in. (6mm) from its element tip when top mounted. The side mount configuration is accurate to +0.125 (3mm). It is temperature compensated for process and plant environment swings of up to 100 °F (38 °C) to provide measurement accuracy and stability under harsh conditions.
Its thermal mass flow sensing technology reportedly makes it suitable for detecting and controlling interface in tanks and separation vessels. It can identify the interface of multiple media, such as liquids and foams, liquids and sediments, and liquids and resins.
The aluminum enclosure is rated NEMA 4X (IP66) for harsh environments. Approvals and ratings include: Class I and II, Div 1 and 2, Groups C and D, as well as FM, CSA, CE marking and ATEX (pending).
