Everett, WA —Fluke 681S non-contact infrared thermometer from Fluke Corp. , designed for measuring surface temperature in potentially explosive or flammable environments, is Factory Mutual approved as an intrinsically safe device. Applicable in such industries as petrochemical, chemical, pharmaceutical, oil exploration and refining, hazardous waste, and other hostile environments, the IR thermometer is designed to limit the release of sufficient thermal or electrical energy to cause ignition of a specified flammable gas or vapor-in-air mixture under normal operating and environmental conditions.

It holds and logs temperature measurements to memory; displays minimum, maximum, and average measurements; and has an adjustable emissivity setting. Device also has a backlighted display for use in poorly lit areas and enhanced optical performance with a distance-to-spot ratio of 50:1, allowing measurement of smaller objects from greater distances. Rubber overmolding, a sealed battery compartment, and a durable hard plastic storage case make it suitable for rugged use.
