The Baumer Process Instrumentation

product segment has released ISL 05x, an inductive conductivity sensor with compact stainless steel design for installation in pipes from DN40 and upwards.

ISL 05x is a sensor for the inductive measurement of conductivity with integrated compensation of liquid temperature. The liquid flowing through a channel bore in the measuring head acts as the core in a transformer; power is supplied to the primary coil on one side of the bore, and the induced output current of the secondary coil is measured on the other side.

Conductivity of a medium is directly proportional to the output current level and temperature-dependant. An accurate temperature measurement is made and used to compensate for the temperature of the media. Due to precise, configurable temperature compensation and remote setting of four pre-configured measuring ranges, the ISL 05x is suitable for a range of conductivity measuring. It features 4-20 mA output for conductivity as well as temperature, and measures process temperatures from -20 to 130 °C. A high operating temperature limit permits installation in SIP systems.

The sensor is insensitive to polarization, adhesion, and solids. The integrated display for mS/cm and ° C offers an instant readout locally, an advantage especially in manually operated cleaning systems. Due to optimized flow geometry and fast response, the sensor is suitable for applications where separation of media and measurements of cleaning agents in CIP equipment is required.
