Expertise wanted: Playing the IT Green card may require niche specialists

To get market recognition, SITS players need to attend to all parts of their operations—i.e., address internal energy and environmental issues, ensure products and services are green, and also have the offerings in place to help their customers achieve their own energy-reduction and environmental targets.Hesitation exists about committing to the range of services and offerings that customers need. One reason for this is the lack of know-how within SITS companies. They need to be able to help clients by providing a holistic view across applications, business processes, and the enterprise as a whole. There are few, if any, mainstream SITS companies that can provide comprehensive advice of this nature. There are a number of niche consultancies that do have the expertise but usually do not have the visibility, credibility, or technical expertise for a global enterprise project.“The lack of expertise will be a growing issue over the next 12 months.
