Natick, MA——结合全球消费of battery-powered uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) is expected to grow at a robust pace, increasing from $5.1 billion in 2005 to approximately $6.6 billion by 2008, according to a recently released study from Venture Development Corp. (VDC). The increase reflects a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.5%.
In general, says the report, growth will be driven by four factors:
An ever-increasing awareness among end-users of the need for power protection; the 0.5 to 3.0 kVA-segment of the market accounts for the largest share of UPS shipments globally;
Continuation of conditions driving the need for power protection, primarily grid reliability and power quality, with demand stimulated by a growing number of enterprises whose performance is affected by these issues;
Need for power protection becoming an essential cost of operations in a 24/7 global marketplace heavily dependent on networks to function; and
UPS technology becoming a likely choice to ensure clean power and reliable backup as loads become more efficient and require cleaner power, and more enterprise segments systems are deemed “mission critical.”
Products with a power rating of 5 kVA or less accounted for more than half of all battery-powered shipments in the global UPS market, says the study, continuing a trend from 2002. Reasons for the trend have not abated, notes the report, as the awareness of the need and benefit of power protection continue to rise and the cost of these units remains low. VDC anticipates this segment will continue to account for the largest share of global shipments through 2008.
