Virtual HMI accesses controller through PCs, Web

Master Controller module from Red Lion Controls lets users create a virtual HMI and control and monitor machines over any networked PC with a standard Web browser.

York, PA — Master Controller Module fromRed Lion Controls Inc.使一系列串行设备和遗留食蟹猴ery for easy to use and low-cost network and Web-based communication and control. The module enhances functionality of the firm’s Modular Controller Series. The virtual HMI feature reportedly facilitates access and control of any connected device in a system, including PLCs and motor drives. It can also log system data directly to CompactFlash in Microsoft Excel-compatible CSV files; files can be retrieved via USB or a Web-server.

Jesse Benefiel, Red Lion product manager, calls the product a proven platform for both advanced data acquisition and management and multi-zone PID control. “The versatility of the new Master Controller with virtual HMI, paired with either dedicated PID control or data acquisition modules,” he said, “delivers remote monitoring, control and triggering capabilities to a host of legacy machines at an economical price.”

The system includes Red Lion’s Crimson 2 software, updates, support, cabling instruction, and communication drivers. Menu of built-in, point-and-click serial and Ethernet drivers reportedly maps controller data to PLC registers in seconds. No code is needed to establish communication; built-in COMMS drivers inherently know how to talk to PLCs, PCs, or SCADA systems.
