Siemens, Rotork conclude sales agreement
Siemens’ Quadlog safety PLC.
Luton, U.K . – Siemens Process Automation and Rotork Control and Safety say they have signed a Memorandum of Agreement to sell each other’s safety products.
Siemens will offer Rotork’s solid state safety system, particularly to the oil, gas, and petrochemical industries. The “non-software dependent safeguarding system” is said to be particularly suited to applications requiring High Integrity Plant Protection (HIPPS). The equipment is certified by the German TÜV and U.K.-based SIRA and can be used on applications up to SIL 4 as defined within IEC 61508. It is designed to be freely configured and fully integrated with control and PLC/SCADA systems.
The agreement allows Rotork to sell Siemens’ Quadlog safety PLC. Quadlog is used for process applications in hazardous environments, such as burner management, emergency shutdown, or fire and gas detection.
Established in 1975 and employing over 100 staff, Rotork Control and Safety is a wholly owned subsidiary of the engineering group, Rotork plc.
