Network technologies to be discussed

Tuesday, March 19, at 1 p.m., in the Innovations Arena, Booth #6533, in the South Hall, will be an encore presentation of the SupplyChainLinkExpo technology webcast, ‘Ethernet & Industrial Networks.’ Participating organizations are Fieldbus Foundation, Profibus/AS-i, and DeviceNet/ODVA. The webcast is moderated by Mark T. Hoske,Control Engineeringeditor in chief. Audience participation will be encouraged afterward.

Fieldbus Industry Roundtable Panel will take place on Wednesday, March 20, from 1-2:30 p.m. in room S503A (McCormick South building, Level 5). Mark Hoske will moderate the panel.

Panelists will be:

  • Michael Bryant (representing both Profibus and AS-interface)

  • Larry Komarek (Interbus)

  • Rich Timoney (Fieldbus Foundation)

  • Katherine Voss (ODVA & ControlNet International)

Areas to be covered include:

  • What steps are being taken to ensure users plug-and-play connectivity?

  • What issues are you working on to allow users the ability to transfer data between legacy networks and networks of the future?

  • What do you see as the biggest challenges for field networks in the next year?

  • What issues should end-users watch out for when implementing a fieldbus?

  • Will Ethernet be the dominant fieldbus?

  • What are the impediments to wider adoption of field networks?
