HMI/SCADA system monitors, controls plant-wide data

HMI/SCADA iFix 4.0 from GE Fanuc Automation offers enhanced functionality, providing visibility into the automation environment.

Charlottesville, VA —Proficy HMI/SCADA-iFix 4.0 for the comprehensive monitoring, control, and distribution of plant-wide data is now available from GE Fanuc Automation . Part of the Proficy automation software platform, this new release of iFix 4.0 adds functionality, including third-party PLC integration, productivity enhancements, and the ability to handle large SCADA systems.Release is said to feature innovative device discovery and automated configuration capabilities supporting the Siemens S7 PLC. Support for Rockwell/Allen-Bradley PLC networks and other OPC sources will follow in the near future. iFix 4.0 adds new tools for discovery and auto-configuration, enhanced graphics and integration, and additional modules for greater visibility into all aspects of the enterprise. Software also supports the latest technologies in security, biometric connectivity for 21 CFR Part 11 electronic signatures, encrypted networking between clients and servers, and more.The enhanced package is being incorporated into Singapore’s Deep Tunnel Sewerage System, reportedly one of the world’s largest integrated SCADA-systems. One of the project’s first centralized water-reclamation facilities, the Changi plant, is configured with approximately 500,000 tags across a 50-node architecture running the new product. GE Fanuc is working with CH2M Hill, engineering firm and designer of the system, to complete this portion of the work.
