Alarms: TiPS partners with UReason; joins Rockwell Encompass group

TiPS and UReason have announced a partnership to align their respective alarm management and operator advisory technologies to deliver better plant condition alerts and advisory information. According to TiPS business development manager Jennifer Anderson, “Essentially these are two of the most important technology layers in an operations strategy, whether you call it alarm management, operator vigilance, or situation awareness.”The LogMate Alarm Management System from TiPS is an alarm management infrastructure with facilities for archival, analysis, trending, reporting, change management, rationalization, and notification. The Oasys-AM Operator Advisory System from UReason is targeted at dynamic alarm reduction and operator advisory alerts, including play-back, pattern mining, rule induction, real-time cause-effect analysis, state detection, topology reasoning, and interactive decision trees.“LogMate forms the basis of a control system alarm management program, and the UReason Oasys system improves the capabilities of the operating team beyond that which the control system alone is able to provide,” said Anderson. “This is a definite win for the manufacturing community.”“We worked with TiPS software at Lyondell, and we quickly recognized how complementary our products were,” said Lieven Dubois, director of partner sales and marketing at UReason. “With this agreement in place, UReason can promote and support TiPS products in Europe, the Middle-East, and Africa, while TiPS can serve its current and future customers in the Americas with an extension of its product range.”
